No tax money for abusive, divisive, insulting language.Well, the petition, which was supposed to have closed on April 3, is still up and getting signatures, 28,417 as of today. You can still sign it if you haven't already done so, but you must register at the site and then close the site and open it back up for your registration to "click." It ain't rocket surgery, just a PITA. So, wondering what would happen and when, I called the White House switchboard and got connected to the White House We the People petition site. I got an intern who had to find someone for advice to answer my question, When would this petition http://wh.gov/... be brought before the petition committee and routed to Sec. Panetta's attention?It is not bad enough that he provides partisan blather, that he demeans our President.
He has regularly demeaned women.
His remarks this week were well beyond the pale of what should be broadcast to our military and their families, supported with our tax dollars.
We have a moral objection to our tax dollars being used for such a purpose.
You should move immediately to cancel any further broadcast through government facilities of his venom.
There is no excuse for the US Government, in any capacity, giving this man an audience.

The intern went away and came back with, "We do not comment on where or when the petition will be considered and passed along to the intended recipient." Well, that's fairly vague, so I said I would periodically call and bug the Petition Site for information on the petition's status, which I will. You know me.
I also sent PBO an e-mail outlining the status and reiterated to him the importance of getting this gasbag off the air where others in foreign countries might consider him to be a representative of US.
So there we are. I, like a rat dog, will bug the crap out of We the People via my Vonage phone. Once again, thank you all for signing it; I want it to come to some sort of fruition because it was a lot of hard work using Facebook and Twitter (which I did not mind doing).

How does We the People work?Addend: Republished to the SLUTS queueAnyone 13 or older can create or sign an online petition seeking a federal government action on a range of issues. Then it’s up to the petition creator and signers to build support for the petition by gathering more signatures.
There are two critical thresholds for We the People. First, a minimum number of signatures is necessary for the petition to be publicly listed on We the People and searchable. Second, a minimum number of signatures is necessary in a given amount of time in order for the petition to be reviewed by the White House, distributed to the appropriate policy officials within the Administration and receive an official response. This response will be posted and linked to the petition on WhiteHouse.gov, as well as emailed to all of the petition signers. Petitions that do not cross this threshold in the given timeframe will be removed from the site.

How long will it take for the White House to respond?
We will do our best to respond to petitions that cross the signature threshold in a timely fashion, however, depending on the topic and the overall volume of petitions from We the People, responses may be delayed.
